In humans, several coronaviruses are known to cause respiratory infections that can range from the common cold to more serious illnesses such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). Methods. Nutritional medical treatment is of the utmost importance, given the high energy and protein needs associated with the energy expenditure that the disease entails, and in the recovery phase, which can be long.
