Title : Western conventional medicine versus classical homeopathy: Differences in the approach of diseases

Abstract:

Many alternative therapies and therapists view themselves as complementary to the mainstream, conventional Western medicine. In fact, there are many so-called complementary therapies. Homeopathy, however, does not see itself this way. It is an independent form of treatment with its own principles and approaches. When applied properly, it is a genuine alternative to conventional medicine in many medical situations. The philosophy of Western conventional medicine is very simple: it limits its perspective to the physical body. In this view, illness means a deviation, an anomaly, and a derailment from established norms. Consequently, diseases and symptoms are combated. External factors are almost exclusively held responsible as triggers. The approach in homeopathy is quite different. From a holistic perspective, it recognizes the human being as a unity of body, soul, and spirit. The body, with all its functions, represents the outer layer of the human being. From a homeopathic perspective, disease does not arise on the material-physical level, but much deeper within the psychological and spiritual system. They are not malfunctions, but rather expressions of issues and conflicts at much deeper levels. That is why homeopathy does not work against them, but with them. Due to these differing perspectives on illness, the healing approaches of conventional Western medicine and homeopathy are diametrically opposed. This lecture aims to highlight the different philosophies and approaches to disease and its cure. I will focus on the holistic perspective and explain how it works using concrete case studies. The goal is for the audience to gain a deeper understanding of the connections between the psychological-spiritual realm and the physical body.

Biography:

Rolf Dittli has practiced as a classical homeopath for 30 years and leads seminars and courses on various topics related to homeopathy and the symbolic language of illness. He was also the long-time president of the Swiss Homeopathic Association and a member of the Swiss Association for the Recognition of Alternative Medicine. His research focuses on the interrelationships between physical and mental processes, as well as between organic development and the fundamental themes of human existence: "The achievement of health is decisively achieved through awareness of the psychological component in the development of illness," is Rolf Dittli's professional credo.
