Title : Resourced & relational: Embodied parts integration and dual attunement in collaborative care for bodyworkers and trauma therapists

Abstract:

Something is amiss—our collective well-being is strained. In the helping professions, many of us are experiencing burnout, compassion fatigue, and a sense of isolation in a job we use to feel a sense of deep satisfaction. The demands of modern life are exhausting not only our bodies and minds, but also our capacity to stay present and connected—with ourselves and with those we serve. What if, instead of focusing on what's "wrong," we began to orient toward the inherent health within our nervous systems and our clients’? What shifts when we stop working in isolation and start forming intentional teams of care that support us in doing this work sustainably? This presentation introduces a compassionate, integrative framework for healing: Embodied Parts Integration through the lens of Dual Attunement and Collaborative Care. Grounded in the understanding that we were never meant to carry the burden of care alone, this model encourages practitioners to resource themselves and each other while supporting clients in reconnecting with their own internal strengths and embodied wholeness. We will explore how co-regulation—between practitioner and client, and between practitioners themselves—can create a deeply restorative field of relational safety. We’ll also examine how co-facilitated sessions offer a powerful container for nervous system regulation, especially when working with survivors of trauma. Emphasis will be placed on resourcing over rescuing, shifting the healing dynamic from dependency to empowerment. This approach invites a reimagining of care—one rooted in interdependence, collaboration, and nervous system attunement. By building interdisciplinary teams and fostering community-based support, practitioners can move beyond burnout into a sustainable and nourishing model of care that benefits both healer and client.
