Title : Ethnophytomedical study in traditional medicine systems in Cerenti, Kuantan Singingi, Riau Province, Indonesia
Abstract:
Medicinal plants are the main elements in the local medicinal system in Cerenti, Kuantan Singingi, Riau Province, Indonesia. This is related to the culture that is still well preserved and inherited as indegenous knowledge of the local society. This study aims to inventory, identify and recognize knowledge of traditional medicinal plants by traditional healers. Ethnophytomedical surveys were conducted to collect information from traditional healers. Plant identification was carried out at the Botanical Laboratory, Department of Biology, Riau University. The research method used was the ethnobotany survey method, observation and personal interviews with five informants who had information about the use of medicinal plants. The results showed that there were 123 species of medicinal plants from 51 families that were used to treat 45 types of diseases. Leaves are the part of the plant that is mostly used by traditional healers with tree habitus and status of origin from the garden. Fever is a disease category that is mostly treated using medicinal plants which have a ICF value = 0.92. Meanwhile, the special ailment category was the category with the lowest ICF score of 0.60. The medicinal plants with the highest percentage of accuracy used by traditional healers were Averrhoa bilimbii and Zingiber montanum with FL values of 100%.
