Title : Role of ayurveda in managing diabetic foot ulcer

Abstract:

Every 30 seconds, a lower limb amputation is carried out due to diabetes throughout the world. The mortality rate due to diabetic foot gangrene is just next to Cancer. With advancements in modern medicine, leech therapy, a traditional treatment method for chronic wounds has proven effective in relieving venous congestion. According to Ayurveda, Prameha updrava or Diabetic complications should be managed with Shodhana procedure and follow Dushtavrana Chikitsa (Vrana ropaka).

Biography:

Dr. Sharma, Post graduated in Ayurveda, has specialization in Panchkarma (Detoxification therapies) from India’s most prestigious Institute, Government Rishikul Ayurvedic Medical College. She is a very young and inspiring personality of Ayurveda in India. She has presented more than 20 papers in various national and international Seminars. Besides this, she has written more than 30 articles and case reports in peer reviewed journals. Besides this, she has also written 03 books in the field of Ayurveda. Presently working as Assistant Professor, in the department of Panchkarma at GAMC, Jammu, J&K, India.
