Title : Principles of yoga therapy -A conceptual approach

Abstract:

In this research paper researcher want to provide the five principles of Yoga therapy. The first principle of yoga therapy is the principle of existence. To come into existence as a human being we have to know the body in its complete form. To understand the whole it is necessary that we know the level of organization of the body developed by modern medical methods. The existence of man is not just the physical body. Apart from this, mind, intellect, intuition and emotions also reside in this body. Yoga science accepts the existence of the subtle body and the causal body. He believes that the mind and intellect reside in the subtle body, while emotions and intelligence are found in the causal body. The second principle is the principle of harmony-Harmony in the functions taking place inside the body, which occurs between the nervous system, endocrine glandular system, respiratory system, circulatory system, muscular system, excretory system, digestive system, skeletal system etc. If there is no coordination between these systems then it will not be possible for a person to remain healthy. Principle of Synchronization- Synchronization has great importance in yoga therapy because often in yoga a person wants to bring himself in a sense of equality. In the definition of yoga it is said that 'Samatvam Yoga Uchyate', equality is yoga. The activities of Yoga are meant to bring a person into equanimity. The human body also makes continuous efforts to maintain its internal environment the same. When the external process and the internal process start becoming similar, this process is called synchronization. The fourth principle is the principle of integration – diseases come to the body, sometimes they come to the body from the mind, sometimes they come to the mind from the body. Sometimes physical illness and mental illness come together. This makes it clear that our system works like a unit. If a small disease occurs in one system of the physical body, gradually that disease enters the other systems of the body also. From this it can be understood that this body works like a unit. The fifth principle of medicine is the principle of localization – Localization here means the part of the body in which the disease is present. The yoga practitioner should pay attention to that part of the body and choose yoga exercises related to that part and create an environment for the flow of prana to flow there in abundance. Yoga instructors can teach this process through various mediums to the person who has come for yoga therapy. With the help of these Yoga therapy principles one can use Yoga as effective therapy.
