Title : Effect of satvik, rajsik and tamsik food in our body according to bhagvad geeta (holy book of india)

Abstract:

Ayurveda is the oldest science of life. It has been practiced for thousands of years in India based on its unique fundamental principles of preventing disease, maintaining and promoting health. Trayopasthamba is composed of Ahara (food), Nidra (sleep) and Brahmacarya (Celibacy) good conducts. Each of these Upasthamba has its own importance in preventing disease.  Aahara is considered to be the first one that shows its prime importance. Ahara means balanced diet. It is the first and most important pillar of the Ayurvedic system. It has been said by Acharya Charaka that a good diet should be such that it not only keeps you in good health but also serves as a preventive medicine against upcoming disease. Diseases are mostly caused by poor diet, bad habits, lack of physical activity and ignorance.
Triguna represents the vital energies of the mind. Personality of an individual is genetically determined and depends on Triguna dominance. According to the Triguna theory, it is difficult to change the physical structure, but the mental attitude can be changed by the choice of food. In  Bhagvad Geeta food has been classified  into three main categories called Satvik Ahara, Rajasic Ahara and Tamasic Ahara on the basis of their effect on the triguna of the mind.
